As I am sure you all know by now, I live in Graz. Many of you told me that you wanted to travel here. You also asked me what to do and where to go in Graz. So I thought I would tell you my favorite places so you’ll have the best trip ever!
I’ll start with probably the most obvious one. The Schlossberg. It’s a mountain in the middle of the city with a tiny tower which has a beautiful clock on it. My top tip is to either take the stairs to reach the top or to go by a funicular that goes up the mountain. The view is breathtaking! You can see all over the city. It’s overwhealming at day and especially at night.
Now, this one is a bit outside Graz. Have you ever tried a typically Austrian “Brettljausn” in a “Buschenschanken”? If you have, congrats. You have already tasted one of the best things you can eat in Austria. If not, make sure you check out the “Buschenschank Mausser“. Again, the view is magnificent. All you can see is the beautiful nature of Austria. The Buschenschanken itself is incredibly modern and the service is amazing. And don’t even get me started on the food! So good!
For the ones of you who want to know about nightlife in Graz, this one’s for you. My favorite bar in Graz has to be Landhauskeller and KatzeKatze (of course I choose one that’s named after cats). The drinks there are to die for! If you enjoy high-end and professionally made cocktails, this is the place to go. Not only the drinks and the food but also the service and the athmosphere are amazing.
Do you like going on picknicks? If you do, you’ll love Café Promenade. This little Restaurant is in the midst of the Stadtpark (The biggest park in Graz). The food there is superb and you really get that picknick-feeling. Just more luxurious. The service is amazng and very competent. I love going there for a quick afternoon snack or a meet-up with a friend.
My last sightseeing-tip is to come to Graz when there is the Christmas market. I used to travel to Graz just to go there. With its Christmas lights, the smell of punch and gingerbread and the cold winter air, it’s absolutely magical. You can buy homemade gifts, Austrian specialties and amazing drinks while enjoying the beautiful christmassy atmosphere.
So these were my tips for when you decide to travel to Graz. If you have any further questions you can contact me on my Instagram or leave a comment below.
